TENANT IMPROVEMENTS AT WEST TASMAN DRIVE PHASE II

Phase II of the W. Tasman Drive Campus Tenant Improvement project represented the final phase of a complete renovation of four buildings totaling approximately 433,500 SF for the County of Santa Clara staff, public services, and equipment. With numerous public-facing departments, the design approach sought to provide a clean, bright and modern space that is welcoming and easy to navigate for both visitors and staff. The design provides a stark contrast from the common conceptions of government buildings – the space is imaginative, dynamic, and safe without an overbearing presence of security equipment. The sleek service counter features bullet-proof glass, a modern queuing system and clear signage. Patterns integrated into the terrazzo floor provide cues to paths of travel and highlight points of interest. Within each department, circulation and collaboration areas are located along the building perimeter with offices and other support areas inbound to maximize access to daylight and views to the outside. A variety of spaces is provided from pods for focused work to small brainstorming areas to larger informal gathering spaces to suit today’s dynamic workforce. The design team met with user groups in the early phases of design to identify programmatic needs and ultimately deliver a space that will serve the County, its employees and the public for years to come.
